Delvaux
Delvaux is driven by renewed impetus. Exciting models of handbags and small accessories made from exquisite materials in a range of lively colours: Didier Vervaeren, manager of the creation studio at Delvaux, has brought forth one of the most surprising collections ever, with which he is firmly committed to bringing the Belgian leather goods firm to the top.
Delvaux is getting back to its roots by offering a leather goods collection worthy of a luxury firm that has been purveyor to the royal court since 1883. A collection that strikes a perfect balance between know-how, tradition, and appearance. Alongside the updated classics (such as the “Brillant,” now in a new fish leather with silvery highlights), Delvaux offers a plethora of surprising novelties. The entire collection embodies the style that has made the firm´s name, earning its rightful place in luxury and contrast.
“Our accessories are different ways of expressing one´s personality and individuality. They are clever objects that capitalise on while outdistancing fashion trends,” says Didier Vervaeren. Attentive to the trends of fashion shows, Delvaux has expanded its line of handbags so as to appeal to modern women who are sure of themselves yet sensitive to style and elegance. The Autumn/Winter 2007/2008 collection brings contrasts to the fore. Matt is found alongside glossy, and raised leather alongside smooth leather.
Fastidious attention is paid to the texture of the leather, to its particular feel, the way it captures light. To this end, the designers of Delvaux have concentrated on the materials. The range of materials has been expanded with new types of leather that do credit to the image of this luxury firm. Salient features of the collection include Le Fenice (the subtlety of New Zealand calf skin, with a laminated, sequined appearance that creates depth), Le Desert (tan plant leather from France), Le Vitello (New Zealand baby calf with a short, silky fur), and remarkable exotic skins such as La Patte d´autruche (supple, satiny South-African ostrich leather) and the L´Alligator (fine and supple leather). By turns opulent, surprising and elegant, the season´s colours complete to advantage the classic range of black, navy blue, coffee, fawn and opera: rouge baiser (fiery red), Argent (silvery), Shocking (Shocking pink from the 1980s).
Delvaux is synonymous with handbags, but also accessories at the zenith of trendiness. They are distinguishable thanks to the exclusive nature of their finish and opulence of their materials. On the programme: fashionable style of driver´s gloves in python skin, the refinement of leather gloves, and a mini-collection of jewellery to contemporary tastes, composed of bracelets with drops or in leather, key-cases and pendants. At the forefront, the textile collection is composed of scarves and shawls that update the success of previous years.
