Casey Vidalenc
Casey Vidalenc clothing is handmade from the very first sketch to the very last stitch. Even the labels on the brand’s products are handwritten. It’s impossible to find two completely identical things in the collections of this Anglo-French brand. The designers themselves describe their work as culinary, with materials as ingredients, and fashion trends as recipes. “And like a good soup you can never make it taste exactly the same every time”, they say.

Designers Gareth Casey and Phillipp Vidalenñ, an Englishman and a Frenchman, love fabric so much that they never throw out even a single scrap. “We just can't bear to throw fabrics away! It may have something to do with our grandmothers”. They try daring experiments, combining rough flax with incredibly delicate silk, burlap with printed satin, pressed cotton with chiffon, stripes with spots, violet with green. They utilize everything they have on hand, mixing up and putting together materials with a most unusual method, then even dye them by hand, and what they end up with is truly inimitable. The designers make something, then, if it isn’t pretty enough, “take it apart” and make something new with the pieces, over and over again until the end product has the ideal form and color.
