In April 2007 Australian Company, Cara&Co, opened its first store in Russia. Cara&Co cannot be labelled; It´s neither a boutique, nor a shop, nor a department store. But it combines these three elements into a concept store that contains intellectual fashion, art, food and music in a truly inspiring environment. Such a unique space has an equally unique premise, and Cara&Co is located on the grounds of the “Winzavod” amongst art galleries and factory spaces. The notion of the “concept store” first emerged around 10 years ago in Paris with the op ening of “Colette”, and later in Milan with Corso Como 10, followed by London Dover Street Market. This was a time when the fashion market was dominated by global brands and logos, and “concept stores” allowed the individual to “breathe”, and let their own taste prevail. Those in the know immediately added Colette, Corso Como 10 and Dover Street Market to their fashion “black books”. And now Cara&Co completes the European circuit, by adding Moscow to the fashion lover´s itinerary. Cara&Co showcases intellectual fashion at a luxe level, producing its own aesthetic version of “luxurious minimalism”. The store has been designed with an in-house architect and designer and contains several unique zones which allows the browser to navigate with ease.

The “Fashion” zone combines collections of clothes and accessories by designers from Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Portugal, Belgium and USA. Although geographically diverse, the designers share a philosophy of individuality, uniqueness of cut and impeccable quality. Some such as the Japanese/Australian designer, Akira Isogawa, and Belgian, Tim Van Steenbergen, have already gained a revered following. Others, such as Natan and Delvaux, have been pursued by the likes of the Belgian Royal family, while cult Australian “street” label, Ksubi, has earned cool celebrity status being favoured by the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Kate Moss and Orlando Bloom. The zone of “Books, Lifestyle&Magazines” offers selections from the world´s best publishing houses such as Assoulline, Thames&Hudson and Murdoch, as well as leading edge magazines from both Europe and the US. Music selections — incorporating both CD´s and DVD´s — will be unlike those found elsewhere in the mainstream; while luxury items — from cosmetics and scented candles through to fine wines and premium teas — will provide rare and unique selections that will truly enhance any home, and far from the mass market offerings that currently exist in Moscow today.

The “Vintage” zone have exquisite treasures, from classic houses such as Chanel and Lanvin, through to the jet-set 60´s styles of Andre Courreges and Gucci. For bag lovers, selections will range from the first leather bags created at the turn of the century, through to the French Bakelite bags of the 1920´s, and the early “mod” creations of Paco Rabanne. For fashion historians, Cara&Co is a true museum. For future fashion designers it is a source of unique inspiration. And for “fashionistas” it provides the opportunity to dress with genuine individuality recognized by only a discerning few. The “Break” zone is where “shop-a-holics” can put their feet up. It is an area to view inspiring art and photographic exhibitions, send an email, or simply take time out for an espresso coffee. The eclectic fusion of Napoleon III period furniture, 40´s style lighting, and 50´s bric-a-brac set against an industrial backdrop will let the tired eye wander and inspire creativity – perhaps even a creative breakthrough for those with a little more energy.

Cara&Co has been built on a firm philosophy of researching and buying the most cutting edge selections which reflect the very latest directions from around the world in order to secure those true “pearls” before they inevitably become part of the commercial mass.

Cara&Co is for those men and women who value design philosophy more than simply the label; who are true to their taste more than the fame of a logo; and who are genuine lovers of fashion and not simply its victims.

This is a place where individuality is valued and — as a result — we believe these same individuals will likewise value what is Moscow’s first true concept store. Welcome Cara&Co.
